The present Firm is a result of steady growth since its founding in 1975 as Spragins and Murchison. Its roots go back to 1897, when R. F. Spragins commenced the practice of law in Jackson, Tennessee. His son, R. Hearn Spragins began his practice in 1926. His grandson, Sidney W. Spragins joined his father in the practice in 1956. In 1975, Sidney W. Spragins and Franklin Murchison combined their firms.

In 1994, the Firm merged with Butler and Rheney and has steadily grown to its present size through aggressive recruiting of top notch associates and staff.

The Firm represents local, regional, and national clients in numerous industries. The Firm handles litigation, insurance defense, banking, real estate transactions, commercial transactions, creditor's rights in bankruptcy, family legal matters, estate and probate matters, and criminal defense.
