The Litigation Practice Group of Spragins, Barnett & Cobb, PLC has a staff of attorneys assisted by highly trained support personnel and paralegals. We represent clients in all state and federal trial courts and appellate courts that have jurisdiction over lawsuits brought in Tennessee, as well as in arbitration, mediation and other methods of alternative dispute resolution.

We practice at all levels, from presentations to arbitrators to complex jury trials. Drawing on expertise throughout the firm, in such areas as banking, commercial transactions, business, real estate and estate administration, a team approach is brought to complex commercial, estate, domestic and tort litigation. The Senior Attorney in our Litigation Practice Group is a Civil Trial Specialist certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a Tennessee Supreme Court accredited agency. He has also been given Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer review rating of AV and has been deemed, by peer review process, a "Super Lawyer of the Mid-South". Two members of the team are Listed Rule 31 mediators listed by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Years of courtroom experience serve as a basis for an aggressive, yet practical approach to representing clients. Our lawyers have served as Assistant District Attorneys, Assistant Attorneys General, and Assistant Public Defender and represent insurance companies as defense counsel. We represent clients as plaintiffs in personal injury, employment discrimination, workers compensation cases, wrongful death and other tort actions when we believe the claim is meritorious. These matters may be taken on a contingent fee basis where there is no professional fee if there is no recovery.

Domestic Relations, Custody and Divorce issues are handled by experienced litigators in this field. The Senior Attorney in the Family Practice Group handles adoptions and has presented Continuing Legal Education Seminars on adoption law to area judges and attorneys. Mediation services are also available by our Listed Rule 31 Mediator.

Criminal defense work is also available for persons who are faced with criminal prosecution. Our Senior Criminal Attorney is Death Penalty Qualified, is certified as a Criminal Trial Specialist, is a Criminal Justice Attorney panel attorney for the U.S. District Court, Western District of Tennessee, and regularly acts as lead defense counsel in complex criminal cases.
