Ask any small business owner about their schedule on any given day of the week and chances are good they'll tell you they're swamped. Indeed, there's always inventory to check, books to balance, delivery schedules to keep and cash registers to operate.
As strange as the idea of taking a brief step back from these daily duties may seem, these individuals should strongly consider doing exactly this over the next few days. That's because it's National Small Business Week.
For those unfamiliar with this event, it's been run by the U.S. Small Business Administration every year since 1963 in an attempt to "highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners and others from all 50 states."
In addition to the webinars, discussions with SBA Administrator Linda McMahon and various award galas, experts indicate that National Small Business Week presents small business owners with some unique opportunities to boost not just their sales, but also their overall brand awareness.
To that end, some tips offered by experts to capitalize upon the event include:
- Collaborate with another small business owner that serves a similar audience to run a special sale showcasing services and products. For example, consider a hair salon and a spa offering their guests 10 percent off coupons for their respective businesses.
- Enhance visibility of services and products by sending out emails to customers discussing what National Small Business Week is and why it's important, while simultaneously creating an incentive to stop in (i.e., attach special coupons).
- Acknowledge those who have played a hand in your success from employees and mentors to vendors and customers, thanking them via a social media post, email or thank you letter.
Here's hoping that small business owners across Tennessee are able to enjoy this year's National Small Business Week and celebrate a job well done.
As always, those small business owners with pressing legal concerns should strongly consider speaking with a skilled legal professional who can provide answers and pursue solutions.
