About:

Charles H. Farmer has recently returned to Spragins, Barnett & Cobb following 18 years as Mayor of the City of Jackson. Although his practice is broad, his key areas of concentration are personal injury, employment law, commercial law, and municipal law.

Charles graduated from Bethel College with a bachelor’s degree, and then from the Nashville School of Law with a Juris Doctorate.

After graduating from law school, Charles Farmer worked for the firm of LaFon and Hardee, and later moved to Spragins, Barnett & Cobb, which was at the time called Spragins & Murchison. Farmer served as the Madison County attorney from 1985 until 1989. Charles was Mayor of Jackson from 1989 to 2007.

He has always been involved in the community, serving on numerous boards; including as president of the Old Hickory Rotary Club; former officer and member of the Jackson Jaycees, and chairman of Goals for Jackson. He served on such boards as the American Red Cross, the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Bethel College Board and the Affordable Housing Development Corporation. He was a member and past president of the Tennessee Municipal League and served as chairman of the Tennessee Municipal Bond Fund. Charles is admitted to practice before the Tennessee Supreme Court, all Tennessee trial and appellate courts, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He is a member of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Charles resides in Jackson, Tennessee, with his wife, Ondra a recently retired school teacher. Charles and his wife have two children. Charles enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
